Page Description
When you’re throwing a party for a kid, it’s pretty easy to decide on a theme. Is it a girl? Barbie. Is it a boy? Power rangers. Obviously, this is a little bit of an oversimplification, but generally a child’s favorite toy or television show will make for a great party.

With older birthday boys and girls, it’s not so easy. Sure, everybody has that one friend who still wants to celebrate their 50th birthday party with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cake - but that’s a rare case. So, how do you know what kind of party to throw a friend who probably couldn’t get away ordering off the kids’ menu any more? Hopefully this guide can help.

For 30 year olds, throw an Old Folks party to remind them that they’re still a long way from being truly “over the hill.”

For 40 year olds, throw a 40 things party.

For 50 year olds, throw a 50 things party.

For 60 year olds, throw an “I Don’t Want to Grow Up” party so they can recall the fond memories of their childhood, no matter how long ago it seems.

For 70 or 80 year olds, throw a fake funeral to celebrate how long they’ve managed to laugh in the face of death. For birthday people of any age, throw an era party harkening back to the days of their youth.

If you want your party to be indoors, a fake funeral or bingo party will work great.

If you want your party to be outdoors, a Road Rally will be perfect.

If most of the guests are old friends, a Memory Jar party or a Roast will bring back all the great memories you’ve all shared together.

If most of the guests are newer friends, a Road Rally or “I Don’t Want to Grow Up” party is a great way to get to know each other better.
